Instructional Positions

Biology Teacher

The Biology Teacher will be responsible for delivering a rigorous curriculum that fosters scientific inquiry, ecological literacy, and a deep understanding of living systems. The successful candidate will prepare students to critically analyze scientific data and be informed citizens capable of navigating modern biological and environmental issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess a NYS Biology (7-12) Teacher Certification.

Key Responsibilities

The candidate will:

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the standards aligned with the NYS Science Learning Standards and the Living Environment Regents.

  • Use laboratory investigations and scientific literature to help students develop data-analysis skills, evidence-based arguments, and mastery of the scientific method.

  • Utilize diverse instructional strategies (e.g., hands-on lab experiments, case studies, modeling, and project-based learning) to make biological concepts relevant to modern life and technology.

  • Use data-driven assessments to track student progress in scientific practices and differentiate instruction for a diverse classroom of learners.

  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment that adheres to strict laboratory safety protocols and encourages collaborative problem-solving.

  • Build strong professional relationships with the Science department and proactively engage with families regarding student achievement.

French Teacher

The French Teacher will be responsible for delivering a rigorous curriculum that fosters communicative proficiency, cultural literacy, and global competence. The successful candidate will prepare students to navigate and engage with the French-speaking world as informed, active citizens in a global society.

Position Details

  • Salary: Per current MMTA contract; level of education and experience will be considered.

  • Reports to: Building Principal

Required Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess a NYS French (7-12) Teacher Certification.

Key Responsibilities

The candidate will:

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the standards aligned with the NYS World Languages Learning Standards.

  • Use authentic resources (e.g., French media, literature, podcasts, and current events) to help students develop interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational communication skills.

  • Utilize diverse instructional strategies (e.g., target-language immersion, communicative tasks, and project-based learning) to make language acquisition natural and relevant to modern life.

  • Use data-driven assessments to track student language proficiency levels and differentiate instruction for a diverse classroom of learners.

  • Maintain a respectful, inclusive environment that encourages cultural appreciation, perspective-taking, and risk-taking in language learning.

  • Build strong professional relationships with the World Language department and proactively engage with families regarding student achievement.
