Yesterday, Mount Markham Elementary held a House Assembly, and staff dressed in purple to honor military families, as April is the Month of the Military Child. The elementary chorus celebrated our veterans and currently serving military members with a special, patriotic song. At the end of the assembly, student teacher Anna and her service dog Penny were given a heartfelt farewell, as it was their last day with the district.

On Monday, April 8, 85 high school students and 9 chaperones visited the Oswegatchie Educational Center to view the total solar eclipse! Students enjoyed a day of learning about the eclipse and sun safety, hiking, and playing games before the main event! Students were able to view the partial eclipse starting around 2:10 pm and totality around 3:22 pm, which lasted 3.5 minutes! The students were amazed at how dark it got, how the winds stopped, how the clouds thinned, and how mosquitos actually came out as the temperature dropped. It was an incredible experience that students will remember! Thank you to Mr. Mosny and Ms. Robinson for their work planning this trip. Thank you to Mrs. Kane, Mrs. Gates, Mrs. Martin, Ms. Campion, Mr. Gates, Mr. Bugbee, and Ms. Gates for chaperoning. Thank you to our great bus drivers, Brian Mattison, Jen Jones, and Matthew Wichowsky. And a special thank you to Mr. Zampetti and Mr. D'Apice for supporting this once-in-a-lifetime event for our students who signed up!

The All-School Musical production of Seussical Jr. played to a packed house for three performances and was a smash hit! Involving over 35 students in grades 5-12, our actors had been rehearsing since January to bring the works of Dr. Seuss to life.
The All-School Musical staff would like to thank the administration, staff and community for supporting theater, music and arts in the district. We would also like to extend our appreciation to Gayle Coveny for the awesome pictures.

Our French Club travelers are back in the US, waiting in Phili for their flight home.
They are exhausted after two jam-packed days in Paris! They saw the Louvre, the Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame de Paris, Versailles, the Eiffel Tower and did a walk by of the Moulin Rouge.
Our students also saw many more of the sites from a Bateau Mouche ride on the Seine that was made possible by donations from MMTA, the Mount Markham Optimists, the Mount Markham Foundation and the Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Dept. Thank you to all of our donors and anyone that support our students by purchasing fundraisers.
It has been an amazing experience and we are so grateful for the support of our whole community. One last special thanks to Mr. Zampetti, Mr. D'Apice and the Board of Education to allowing us travel!
Our students truly made us proud, carried themselves well and made some memories to last a lifetime!

Congratulations to Eric Bugbee for receiving a Staff Shout-Out! We appreciate your willingness to go above and beyond to support our staff.

Today the French Club students are traveling across northern France. We've gone from the Normandy coast to the Loire River Valley.
After touring the ramparts of St. Malo, we had a stop to see the Mont Saint Michel which is 1300 years old. Last night we ate traditional peasant food from Normandy and today we visited Chenonceau, the Ladies' Castle.
We're off to Paris this afternoon for one more busy, busy day. Our students have been amazing every step of the way! They're really making the Mount Markham community proud!

Students in Mrs. Brower's tenth-grade English class created their own children's books on life lessons learned from a book we read in class. Students read their life lesson book to Mrs. Casale's kindergarten class. We are thankful they let us come in and were such good listeners!
