Last week, Mount Markham High School's Sources of Strength group, led by Meghan Dickens, LCSW, dedicated the week to promoting mental health awareness with a variety of engaging activities and events.
Throughout the week, students and staff participated in awareness activities that included sharing valuable resources, informative videos, and crucial information about mental health. The week also featured giveaways and hands-on activities such as making stress balls, crafting essential oil bracelets, and creating mantra bracelets to promote relaxation and mindfulness.
A highlight of the week was the visit from everyone's favorite therapy dog, "Melo," who provided comfort and companionship to students. Additionally, community organizations set up informational tables to provide further support and resources to students and staff.
The overarching mission of Sources of Strength is to foster messages of hope, help, and strength within the school community. By organizing campaigns and events like "Mental Health Awareness/ I am Stronger Week," the group aims to break the stigma surrounding mental health and encourage open conversations about well-being throughout the year.
Mount Markham High School continues to prioritize mental health awareness and support, ensuring that all students have access to resources and initiatives that promote emotional well-being.
